American-Palestinian Youth Freed After Nine Months in Israel's Custody

A Palestinian-American adolescent having endured nine months in imprisonment by Israel without being charged gained freedom.

Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 during his detention this past winter within the occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing while residing in Florida for allegedly throwing stones at Jewish settlers, which he previously denied.

The US state department said it welcomed Mohammed's liberation.

Currently aged sixteen, required hospitalization right after being freed, according to close relatives.

According to them, he appears pale, underweight, and experiencing medical problems contracted in captivity.

Through an official statement, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "living a horrific and endless nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Currently, our priority is getting Mohammed the immediate medical attention necessary for his recovery after being subjected to mistreatment by authorities and cruel circumstances throughout his detention."

The state department announced ongoing to offer diplomatic assistance to Mohammed's family.

{"US government authorities considers paramount to ensuring the safety for United States citizens"," officials stated.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers submitted a formal letter to the state department and the White House, urging greater action to secure his release.

Mohammed's parent, a father-of-four managing a frozen treats business from Florida, had earlier stated Mohammed acknowledged allegations regarding stone throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

He had not seen nor direct contact following the detention, receiving updates exclusively regarding the treatment via legal paperwork.

The teenager remained absent formal charges within Ofer penitentiary in the West Bank.

The facility also contains adult prisoners, some of whom have been convicted regarding severe security violations including killings.

There are around 350 Palestinian child security detainees being held in Israeli jails, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Many have never been charged along with monitoring agencies, including UN bodies, say some have suffered physical abuse and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said they would maintain their efforts seeking justice for their relative their cousin Sayfollah.

This young American-Palestinian who the Palestinian health ministry said died from beating by Israeli settlers amid clashes in July.

During that period, the Israeli military said officials were investigating information regarding a civilian had been killed.

The two cousins had worked together in the family ice cream shop from Tampa.

No charges have been filed regarding Sayfollah's death.

"We demand United States leadership to safeguard our relatives," the uncle stated.
