Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Concerns.

'Significant concern' for England after Atkinson is forced off suffering a hamstring problem.

Gus Atkinson increased England's injury problems after leaving the playing area early on day two in the Melbourne Test in the Ashes series.

The pace bowler experienced discomfort in his left leg post-delivery in his spell at the MCG.

The England team indicated Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and would spend time away from the action for further assessment "in the coming hours".

The series decider of the series beginning on 4 January starts this coming Sunday.

The English side has already lost key quicks Mark Wood due to knee trouble and Jofra Archer to a side strain on this Ashes tour.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party to provide backup.

Atkinson struggled early in the series, taking just three wickets.

He was left out of the third Test, then recalled for the Melbourne Test as Archer's replacement.

Surrey's Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, taking two wickets with the ball, then making 28 while batting as one of just three England players who passed ten runs.

After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he came back on Saturday morning and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

Yet, on the final ball of the fifth over, he sent down a change of pace to Travis Head and suddenly grabbed for his hamstring.

Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out of the third.
