Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for questions to be raised about his future following a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the team's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received significant support from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the belief. But I've not talked to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring weaknesses from his squad in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until it is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to where it needs to be, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
